Duke Duke Duke

Oh my goodness!!!  Has it really been a year since I posted ANYTHING?!?  Last year was such a crazy year for me that it's actually not surprising.  Hopefully 2020 will be better!

I'm trying to make more layouts this year, so I thought I would include one of our favorite kitty, Duke.  Unfortunately, Duke was hit by a car a couple of months ago and didn't make it. 😭  He was such a loving kitty and always wanted to be in your face, around you, or just part of whatever you were doing.

I used the January single page sketch from Stick It Down.

Stay tuned for more layouts this year!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's Party Time!

Stick It Down has always been one of my favorite sites for sketches, and I was on their card Design Team for a while.  It was only natural, then, that I check them out to see what they have to offer for January.

Here's their January Card Sketch:

Since my youngest son turns ten next week (!), I decided to use the sketch to make a birthday card.

Stick It Down Guest Designer

Happy Friday, everyone!  I'm here today to share my card as Guest Designer at Stick It Down!  Just as a refresher, here's this month's card sketch:

Here's my take on the sketch:

I really love the way my card came out!  I had a new stamp and die set from The {Stamps} of Life that I hadn't had the chance to use yet, so I was SUPER excited to use it!  I colored each layer of the rainbow then used Stickles on those layers and on the clouds for some extra pop.

Thanks to the ladies at Stick It Down for having me back as a Guest Designer!  I had a great time working with this sketch!

Coffee Run

Happy Saturday, everyone!  I hope you're having a great weekend!  I decided that I need to use some of my stamp sets more, so today I'm sharing a card with you using a stamp set I've only used a couple of times.  I followed the current card sketch at Stick It Down:

Mona Lisa

I decided to participate in the Layout a Day Challenge this year.  Two days into it, I am SO GLAD I did!!!  The theme of this year's challenge is "Around the World in 29 Days," so I've vowed that all of my layouts for this month will be travel related.  I really want to scrap photos of my international travels, so I should have PLENTY of topics, as I've been out of the country several times.

For LOAD1 (Layout a Day--Day 1), the prompt was Colors, specifically the colors of red, white, and blue for the flag from The Netherlands.  You could use the colors in the prompt, or you could take inspiration from the sample layout.  I chose to focus on the color of blue and to scrap a photo of the Mona Lisa.  I used the February single page sketch from Stick It Down to get started.

After trying out a couple of different things, I turned to my WONDERFUL husband for assistance!  He has great ideas and many times sees things I don't.  Thanks to his idea, my layout turned out like this:

My husband had the idea of creating a pyramid where the diamonds are on the sketch, since there is a crystal pyramid in the courtyard of The Louvre.  I didn't want to cover up the background paper, as I really love the images that are on it, so I cut squares from transparency sheets and placed them together like a pyramid.  It's also a little hard to tell from these photos, but the main color in the background paper is a very light blue.

THE ROBYN'S FETISH CHALLENGE #300--"PINK, GREEN, YELLOW, AND BLUE"--24 JANUARY 2016

This week's challenge at The Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog is to use the colors of pink, green, yellow, and blue in your project!  You may include other colors as needed, but the main colors in your project should be pink, green, yellow, and blue.  Our sponsor this week is Oddball Art Co., and the prize is three digital stamps of the winner's choice from the Oddball Art Co. store.

The Design Team members were provided with an image from Oddball Art Co. for our projects, and my chosen image is "Sally & Charlie."  My husband and I are going on a (kid-free!) cruise this summer, and I always like to take handmade thank-you cards to give the cruise staff at the end of the trip along with their tips.  This will be perfect to use for that!
