Shabby Accents Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Shabby Accents Blog Hop!

If you have arrived here from Linda Coughlin, you are on the right track. If not, please start HERE.

The shabby chic style has been around for many many years, originating from Great Britain, where time worn items were showcased in most country homes. Today’s essence of shabby chic is to achieve that time worn layered vintage look from yesteryear by painting, distressing, dying or tea staining. Now we bring it to you right from our craft tables.

Please follow along as the following crafters showcase their handmade Shabby Chic Accents. Be sure to visit each blog, as each artist will be having a giveaway. Also, we have a couple of awesome sponsors who have generously donated for a “Grand Prize Giveaway”. Their shops are full of shabby goodness. To qualify, all you have to do is leave a comment on each blog.

Now on to my project!

The stamp and sentiment are both from The Rubber Cafe, as is the inspiration for this card. I saw one similar on their display at last year's Scrapbook Expo, so I thought I'd try my hand at recreating it. I picked up the lace and teal ribbon at Hobby Lobby and the flowers at Michael's especially for this project, and the pearls were in my stash. I also added some gold Stickles to the corset for a little extra bling.

As promised, I have something to give away! I can't provide a picture right now (as I'm on a school "field trip" to Boston), but I CAN tell you that I'll be giving away a new clear stamp set I picked up at my LSS a couple of weeks ago. I'd love it if you'd become a follower, but it's not required. Just leave a comment, and I'll draw a winner at the end of the week. Be sure to leave a way to contact you, or I'll draw another name.

Your next stop is Amber Johnson.

If you should loose you way, here is the order of the hop line up

I hope you enjoyed the hop. Thanks for stopping by!

Pattie's Creations Design Challenge--Vintage #38

OOPS!  I did it again!  I didn't get my project for the newest Pattie's Creations challenge posted last night!  I'm in Boston right now with some of my students from school for the Harvard Model Congress conference, and things have been a little crazy.

Our newest challenge is vintage!  I used the Vintage Wedding Dress with Lace image for my card:

I really like how this turned out!  I ran my background cardstock through my Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirl folder and then sanded it just a little.  After coloring the image with Crayola colored pencils, I adhered it to the cardstock using pop dots, then I put individual pearls along the bodice edge for some added dimension.  Sorry, but the maker of the sentiment stamp escapes me.

What vintage project can YOU come up with???  Don't forget that you're REQUIRED to use a digital or stamped image on your project.  You've got until Thursday, March 8, at 1:00 p.m. Central time to get your project uploaded to the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge site.  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

CDAC Progressive Challenge 12 and TPV inspiration

As I get ready to head out to Boston for a week, I'm trying to get lots of projects done!  Tonight, I completed the last challenge for the CDAC Progressive Challenge, and it also works for the latest challenge at The Paper Variety.
I LOVE this image from Fred She Said!  I thought the little boy and his pet frog were just SOOO cute!!!  I colored the image with Crayola colored pencils and adhered it to my card with pop dots.  Both background papers on the card are from Echo Park's A Boy's Life, which I won during last weekend's Crop 'til You Drop in the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin' (Thanks, Theresa!).  The buttons are from my stash, and the sentiment is from The {Stamps} of Life.

The Paper Variety provided a photo for inspiration for this week's challenge:
As you can probably tell, I took quite a bit of inspiration from this photo.  I used the green for the pet frog, shades of blue in the little boy's shirt and in the background paper, and red for his hair.  I just loved them all!  The little boy reminds me of my cousin Kyle when he was little--red hair and all!

Be sure to stop back by later this week to see my newest project for the new challenge at Pattie's Creations AND I'll be in the Shabby Accents Blog Hop on the 27th and 28th with blog candy to give away!!!  Happy scrapping, everyone!

Lasting Memories Challenge #75--All you need is LOVE!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope everyone had a great day with your loved ones.  I LOVE the sketch at Lasting Memories this week:
This is the layout I created:
This is a picture from our wedding day in 2005, and it's one of my favorites.  I had some of the My Mind's Eye State of the Heart collection, and that's what I used here.  The hearts were fussy cut from some of the patterned paper, and the twine is from my stash.  I'm framing this layout and giving it to my husband for his Valentine's Day gift.  I hope he likes it!

*************************************************************
Well, I guess there's nothing like waiting until the last minute to do my card for the CDAC Progressive Challenge 11!  I chose the image Treats for 2 from Lauretta's Digital Stamps and made this card to give my husband tomorrow for Valentine's Day:
I really like the way it turned out.  The red cardstock was run through my Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirls embossing folder, and the heart ribbon was in my stash.  I printed the digi twice so I could fussy cut the hearts and whipped cream, and then I adhered them to the original image with pop dots for some added dimension.  I added rhinestone "sprinkles" to the "chocolate" ice cream, Star Dust Stickles to the whipped cream, and Candy Cane Stickles to the hearts for some extra bling and distressed the edges of the card with some Studio G pink pigment ink.  The sentiment is from The {Stamps} of Life.  I sure hope my husband likes it!

You Light Up My Life hop

To carry on

and fill my nights with song

My husband had this picture of the three of them taken almost three summers ago, when Joseph was just about six months old, as a surprise for me. What a wonderful surprise it was! I wouldn't be the wife and mother I am without their love and support. I am so blessed!!!

Here's the entire lineup, in case you get lost:

When linking up your project, please remember that it MUST have a digital or stamped image somewhere on your creation.  You've got until Thursday, February 23, at 1:00 p.m. Central time to get your project uploaded to the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge site.  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Valentine Card Blog Hop blog candy winner!

My apologies for taking SOOO long to post the winner of my blog candy from last week's blog hop!  This past week was a SUPER crazy week for me, and it finally slowed down TODAY.  I went through my blog comments from the hop and assigned numbers to all comments that were left during the hop (18 comments in all) and then put the numbers through random.org.  The lucky number was 16, which belongs to Anita (find her blog here)!  Congrats, Anita!  Please e-mail me or send me a FB message within one week with your address, and I'll get your prize right out.  Thanks, again, to everyone who stopped by!  Please be sure to stop back by later for my (late!) post for the new challenge at Pattie's Creations and then again on Monday for a new blog hop!

Here's the layout I created:
I LOVE this paper line!  The pictures are of my youngest son, Joseph, and I thought they worked perfectly for this sketch.  I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out!

I haven't forgotten that I STILL need to give away blog candy from the blog hop over the weekend.  I PROMISE I'll be back tomorrow to take care of that!  Happy scrapping, everyone!
