Family Fun

We try to take our kids on some sort of trip every summer, even if it's just a short one.  This year, we decided to do "Branson on a Budget."  Some people would groan at doing things on a budget, but we've become pretty good at find cheap and/or free things to do for vacation and still having a great time!

While we were in Branson, we decided to visit the Celebrity Car Museum.  It was pretty neat!  They had TONS of cars from so many of our favorite movies, and they even had two cars displayed that were damaged in the Branson tornado a few years ago.  Since we (I) took SOOOO many pictures at the car museum, I DO have a layout planned with those pictures!

For today's layout, though, I chose a family picture we had taken at the museum, and I used Sketch #277 from Creative Scrappers.

Scooby Doo is a favorite of our entire family, so it was the perfect backdrop for our family picture!

Besties

As I was working on my layout for Week 37 in Scrappin' 'n' Chattin's 52 Week Layout Challenge, I realized there are only FIFTEEN WEEKS LEFT in this year.  OMG!!!  Where did this year go?!?  I was looking for a sketch and came across this one at Scrapping Everyday Miracles:

Here's my final creations:

This is my bestie, Betty, and me at the Army and Navy Academy graduation in 2012.  We taught English there together for just over three years but didn't really get close until the last semester and then after I moved away.  Sure wish we'd realized the value of each other's friendship before I moved!

There are so many elements on here I want to showcase, so I took a TON of close-ups!

Welcome Autumn!

We've had some much-welcome cooler weather in Arkansas (and a little bit of rain!) for several days, and I am LOVING it!!!  I wish the cooler weather would be here to stay, but I'm afraid we may get some warmer temperatures again before fall is officially here.

I'm a moderator in the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin', and we are currently in Week #37 of a 52-Week Card Challenge.  The aim of the challenge is to complete one card a week for the entire year.  WHEW!!!  This is the third year I've participated, and I've never made it this far.  The group member who runs the challenge gives us a prompt each Saturday, and we have until the following Friday at midnight in our time zone to complete our card following the challenge.  Each participant is given five passes for the year that you can use at any time.  If you use a pass, you have to complete TWO cards the next week--the one you used the pass for and the current one.  This week's challenge is to use fall colors on your card, so I started digging through my stuff and found some of the Bo Bunny Forever Fall collection (now retired) to create my card.

The large orange ribbon was some I found in my stash.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Stickles in Scattered Straw to accent some of the swirls on the front, and I outlined the word "Autumn" with Star Dust Stickles.  The leaves on the inside are from Jolee's by You.

Reindeer Kisses

Hi, everyone!  I had no idea it's been about six weeks or so since my last post.  WOW!!!  Guess life got a little crazy for me there for a while.  AT ANY RATE!  I'm still among the land of the living and have a Christmas card for you today.

I found this sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog

and decided it would be perfect for what I wanted to do.  I actually turned my card horizontally when using the same sketch, mainly because like the horizontal look a little better for this card.

I used Xmas Red Stickles on the reindeer's nose to make it stand out a little, and I colored the image with Crayola colored pencils.  I think I may go back and add some Star Dust Stickles to the stars in the sky, just to add a little something extra.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I promise I won't be gone so long next time!  Happy scrapping, everyone!
