Winter's in the Air Blog Hop

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but these projects are so delightful!

Welcome to the 'Winter's in the Air' blog hop!
We have all made projects to warm your heart, and potentially decorate your home, during these snowy months.  I received the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge from my friend, Vicki, as part of a Secret Santa gift, so I decided to break it out and use it for my card.
I just LOVE this little penguin!  I added Candy Cane Stickles to his scarf, and I outlined the igloo in Star Dust Stickles.  I coated the word "chillin'" with a glue pen and then covered it with a silver Martha Stewart glitter.  The background sky was done with chalks.

If you comment on everyone's post you will be entered to win this from Melanie.  It includes paper, stickers, metal embellies, adhesive, mists, stencils, a journal, and more!  Be sure to check back on Tuesday, January 22, to see who won.
I've got blog candy, too!  In honor of the penguin on my card, I'll be giving away the morepenguins2love stamp set from The {Stamps} of Life.  All you need to do to be entered to win my blog candy is leave a comment below and become a follower of my blog.  If you're already a follower, be sure to let me know.  Thanks for stopping by!

Here's the complete hop lineup, in case you get lost:

Boston!

As many of you know, I'm participating (yet again!) in Scrappin' 'n' Chattin's 52 Week Layout Challenge.  The past two years I haven't made it past halfway, so I'm hoping to get all fifty-two weeks in this year!  I'm normally scrambling to get my layout done on Friday when I get home from school (since it's due by midnight on Fridays), but I actually got myself together and got it done a day early this week.

The past three years I taught at a private, all-boys military boarding school in Carlsbad, California, and was the advisor for the Harvard Model Congress team.  My co-advisor, Ethan, was the history department chairperson and was the PERFECT person to take with me!  We worked very well together, had a wonderful rapport with the boys, and had a GREAT time in Boston!  I am definitely going to miss going to Boston with them this year, but I know Ethan will do a WONDERFUL job as the new advisor.

I followed Sketch #100 at Sketches in Thyme.
Since I was only using a few pictures, I used the left side of the two-page sketch.

This week's challenge at Lasting Memories Layout Challenges is "Something Old, Something New."  I'm entering this layout over there, too, since it's about the "old" advisor (me) and the new advisor (Ethan).

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you'll be back next week, when I'll have another layout and card for you.  We're off to the monster truck show in Little Rock on Saturday as part of the boys' Christmas present.  Have a great weekend, and happy scrapping!

LiaStampz Challenge 33--Celebrations!

I am so happy that I'm FINALLY able to be crafting again!!!  It took a while, but I was finally able to get my new craft room organized enough that I can be my old crafty self again.  Today, it's time for the newest challenge at LiaStampz--celebrations!

We were given the cutest penguin image to work with, so I decided to make a birthday card:

The two background patterned papers were ones I found in my stash, but they're from last year's Bo Bunny It's My Party collection.  I colored the penguin with RoseArt colored pencils and used some silver glitter glue on the sparkler in the penguins hand.  The ribbon came from my stash, and I used pop dots on the back of the penguin for some dimension.  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment was a small stamp in my stash, and I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Faded Jeans.

We would LOVE to see your celebration creations!  You have until January 30 to get your project linked up on the LiaStampz blog.  Be sure to stop back by this weekend for the winter blog hop!  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Fireworks!

My layout for this week is all about fireworks!  As I thought throughout the week about what I wanted to create for my Week 2 layout for the 52 Week Challenge, I came across an e-mail from Soul Scrappers about a new Around the World challenge.  One of the inspiration photos in the ATW challenge for this month is of fireworks in the Sydney, Australia harbor.  I knew I had the PERFECT photos!

All three papers on this layout are from the We R Memory Keepers Yankee Doodle line, and they're my last ones!!!  I've absolutely loved this line, and the layouts I've created with it are some of my favorites.

This is my Week 2 layout for the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin's 52 Week Challenge, and it also qualifies for the "One Word" January Challenge in the same group.  It's being entered at Soul Scrappers (Around the World challenge), Red Carpet Studio (Anything Goes Layout Challenge), and I followed Sketch #98 from Sketches In Thyme and am entering the layout over there as well.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by!  Happy scrapping!

What's Your Dream?

Happy New Year, everyone!!!  I hope the new year is being good to you, and I hope this year is the best year yet for you.  If you follow my blog regularly, you will remember that we moved back to my hometown in June of last year and went through house-hunting and moving into our new home.  I was lucky enough for there to be an extra room upstairs for my craft room!  I finally got around to straightening the room up and organizing things over Christmas break, so now I be crafty again.

I'm participating in the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin's 52 Week Layout Challenge again this year.  I started this the past two years, but I haven't made it past halfway either year.  Obviously, my goal for this year is to make it to the end!  Our first week of the 2013 challenge was the week of December 29-January 4, and it felt SO GOOD to be back in my craft room to create this layout:
This is the first thing I've made in my new craft room, and I think it turned out GREAT!  I found this sketch (saved on my computer) to follow:
This was sketch 203 from Scrapbook Challenges.  Unfortunately, there is a problem with their blog right now, so I can't link to it.

This layout qualifies for the Four Photo challenge in January's Scrappin' Challenge at Scrappin' 'n' Chattin', and I'm also entering it at Scrap It Girl, as it qualifies for the bling challenge.

I hope you've been able to get in your craft room in the new year!  Happy scrapping, everyone!!!
