It's Party Time!!!

Are you ready for a Party?!?!? It's time for a new challenge at Party Time Tuesdays!!! For this week's challenge, we were asked to use digital images we received from Chi Chi Memories AND a handmade flower to create our card. Here's what I came up with this week:

When I was looking through my HUGE stack of scraps, I came across what I thought was the PERFECT sized piece of blue cardstock. I trimmed some cut pieces off of it and measured it so I could get the halfway point. My piece measured just over 8.5" long, so I scored my cardstock at 4.25" using my Scor-Pal. I had a small edge left over on the right side, so I added a small piece of birthday ribbon I found in my stash. For the orange piece of cardstock, I ran it through my Cuttlebug embossing machine using the Happy Birthday embossing folder. I had to try the handmade flower a couple of times before I got the right size for my card, as the first one I made was WAAAAAY too big!

For this week's challenge, we're asking you to create a card with ANYTHING GOES and a handmade flower! Anything goes means exactly that--any theme, any color, any shape--anything . . . as long as your project has a handmade flower. Pattie Curran from Twosday's Techniques provided the video tutorial on handmade flowers this week; I thought it was SUPER easy! You can see the video here. We can't wait to see what you've got in store for us this week!

Lasting Memories weekly layout challenge--SKETCH TIME!

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Today is going to be a great day int he Walker house.  My husband and are FINALLY getting a new bedroom suit!!!  We've wanted one for quite a while, so we used our tax refund this year and bought one, along with a new mattress.  It's being delivered TODAY!!!!  We were also lucky enough to purchase at a GREAT time!  Ashley Furniture was running a promotion.  If you spent a certain amount of money, you got a new TV for FREE.  Yep!  You read that right.  F-R-E-E!!!!!  We're ending up with a 42" LG, flat screen, plasma, HDTV, which is supposed to be delivered along with our new bedroom furniture.  NASCAR races and Dallas Cowboys games are going to be SOOOOOO much better!!!!

On to the challenge!  This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is a sketch challenge.  Here's the sketch we were asked to follow:

And here's what I came up with:

I LOVE this sketch!!!  It was SOOO easy to work with!  I picked up a stack of pictures yesterday and knew as soon as I came across this one that it was the one I wanted to use.  This is one of my favorite pictures of me and Joseph right after his birth.  Adrian was still deployed to Iraq, and I always think of me and Joseph "Dreaming About Daddy" when I see this picture.

Let's see what you've got!  I know there are lots of GREAT entries out there, ladies!  Hop on over to the Lasting Memories Layout Challenges blog to see all the details, and get your layouts linked up.  Can't wait to see what you've got!

Lasting Memories weekly layout challenge--sorry it's late!

Boy, I just can NOT seem to get things together this week!  All my deadlines crept right up on me and just WHIZZED right by!  If you're a regular follower of my blog and read my PTT post, you know I was late on that one, too.  I've vowed to myself that I will NOT be late ANYMORE!!!!

And now, ON TO THE CHALLENGE!!!  For this week's Lasting Memories layout challenge, we were asked to use a recipe--one diecut, two brads, three layers.  Here's my take on the recipe:

My one diecut is the 'B' at the top of the page, my two brads are on the corner of the photo, and my three layers are the blue, red, and green cardstock.  I'd never been to Boston before my trip in February, 2010, and I just couldn't go without making a stop at Fenway Park.  I'm not a big baseball fan, but for me, it's just one of those things.  It was the first MLB park I'd ever toured, and I REALLY enjoyed it!

What have you got for us this week?  Remember--this week is a recipe challenge.  Use one diecut, two brads, and three layers.  That's it!  I know you've got SOMETHING good!  We look forward to seeing what you've got!  You can read all about it here.  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Party Time Tuesdays March Madness continues!

Hi, everyone!  My apologies for being late this week on my post for the PTT challenge.  My oldest son, Kennedy, is here for his spring break, AND I've had a HORRIBLE cold!  I'm on the road to recovery, though, and trying to get back in the swing of things!  I haven't gotten my card done for this week's challenge yet, but I DID want to post about it!  (I'll add my card in the next couple of days, just as soon as I get it finished!)

This week's challenge is monochromatic and cut it up!  Lisa from Twosdays Techniques was kind enough to provide us with a video tutorial for the technique, which can be seen here.  We also have a sponsor this week!  One lucky winner will be receiving a $10 USD gift certificate to Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps, who ALSO provided the Design Team with the images for our cards this week!  Thanks!

While you're taking a break from making your monochromatic + cut it up card this week, hop on over to the Party Time Tuesdays Facebook page and meet Patchi!  Patchi is one of the Party Planners at PTT and is being featured on the PTT Facebook page this week.  We're looking forward to seeing what you create for us this week!

Lasting Memories weekly layout challenge--a little late!

Sorry this is a little late this week!  Things have just been CRAAAAAZY busy for me lately!!!!  Our challenge over at Lasting Memories this week is to create a layout using green and white.  Mine doesn't use a TON of white, but this is what I came up with:

Adrian and I LOVE this book!  We started reading it early on in our relationship; at that time, I'd heard of it but didn't really know what it was about.  Who woulda thunk I'd learn so much about the opposite sex from a book?!?  This book is AMAZING!  We keep having to buy new copies for ourselves, because we're always giving ours away to people we think need them more than we do.

We'd LOVE to see what you can create with green and white this week, and we've got a WONDERFUL prize!  Our very own DT member, Leisa, is a CTMH consultant, and she has GRACIOUSLY donated CTMH's "Lucky" paper pack, blue ribbons, assortment of "Lucky" embellishments, Thickers letters, and a handmade card.  Thanks, Leisa!  You can use other colors on your layout, but the main colors must be green and white to be eligible for this week's prize.  You've got until this Saturday, March 19, to get your layouts done and linked up on the blog.  Good luck, ladies!  We can't WAIT to see what you've got in store for us this week!

Party Time Tuesdays new challenge!

It's Tuesday!!  By now, you should know what that means.  A NEW CHALLENGE FOR PARTY TIME TUESDAYS!!!  For this week's challenge, we made an easel card, followed a sketch for the front design, used a Baby Bud design and flowers from Circle B, AND  incorporated shamrocks.  WHEW!  Here's my take:

The directions for our easel card were provided by Pattie Curran from Twosdays Techniques.  We were also provided a digital image from Baby Bud Designs and flowers from Circle B Enterprises.  The flowers I chose are "Fun Flowers" from Jolee's Boutique by EK Success.  My sentiment is from Close To My Heart's "Flower Pot" set, which I think is now retired, and says "Flowers whisper what words cannot say."

And so, our challenge to you this week is this--create an easel card that follows the sketch and uses shamrocks.  Here's your sketch for this week:

The video tutorial for the easel card can by found on the PTT blog.  I hope you'll join us this week!  Don't forget that we STILL have our March challenge going on!  So get busy, ladies!!!

Birthday Blog Candy winner!

Happy Monday, everyone!  Well, not really, as I utterly DESPISE Mondays.  I would be perfectly happy if the work week went from Tuesday to Friday.  Then again, if we started the work week on Tuesdays, Tuesday would be the new Monday, and that would defeat the whole purpose.  ANYWAY, back to the business at hand!  It's time to announce the winner of my birthday blog candy!  Thanks to everyone who dropped by and left birthday wishes!  I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your favorite birthday gifts over the years.  There 15 WONDERFUL comments left on Saturday!  I plugged the numbers into random.org, and it gave my number 11 (sorry, but I have yet to figure out how to do a screen shot!).  The lucky comment belongs to . . .

The only thing that would make my birthday better would be if my oldest son, Kennedy was with me.  He'll be here in a week for his spring break, though, so I get to celebrate AGAIN when he gets here!  WOOHOO!!!!

My husband, being the WONDERFUL man he is, is giving me one of the best birthday presents ever--a SCRAPBOOK STORE SHOPPING SPREE!!!!!  He told me I can pick any store or stores I want to go to, and he doesn't care where they are.  I am SOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!  I get to spend ALL DAY in scrapbook stores!!!!!  I'm really looking forward to it, because I'm planning a visit to some stores I've never been to before.

So far, I've gotten five LOVELY cards--one from my parents, and four from ladies in the Birthday Card Swap in a Yahoo group I'm in, Scrappin' 'n' Chattin'.  My husband and son also got me a GORGEOUS bouquet of roses!  I'll be sure to post pictures of everything in a few days.

And now, on to my BLOG CANDY!!!  In honor of my birthday, I'm giving away BLOG CANDY!!!  I'm going to pick up some really cool birthday-related stuff to give away, and I'd LOVE to hear about the best birthday gift you've ever received.  I'd also like for you to become a follower of my blog, but it's not a requirement to win.  So let me hear all about those birthday gifts!  I'll draw a winner Sunday night and will post on Monday.  Thanks for stopping by!

New Lasting Memories Challenge!

Happy Sunday, everyone!  It's time again for another Lasting Memories Layout Challenge!  For this week, ANYTHING GOES!!!  The design team was given an digital stamp of our choosing from Tiffany Doodles to use on our layouts this week (Thanks, Tiffany!), so I chose the "Lily Stems with Oval" digi.  Here's my layout for this week:

I used the April GDT Challenge sketch at Sketchy Thursdays for this layout, and I'll also be using entering it in the Scrappin' 'n' Chattin' monthly challenge.  The patterned paper is Gigi Stripe by Glitz Design (double-sided), and the title is Thickers white glitter letter stickers.  I used Martha Stewart's loops border punch on the large polka-dotted paper, and I added some Stickles in Fruit Punch to make the lily on the digital stamp pop out a little.

Now, ON TO THE CHALLENGE!!!  For this week's challenge, YOU'RE THE BOSS!  We want to see your unique style on this week's entry.  Again, our sponsor this week is Tiffany Doodles, and she's offered some GREAT prizes!  Our first prize winner this week will receive 5 digis from Tiffany; second prize wins 3 digis, and third prize wins 2 digis.  How awesome is THAT?!?!?  You have until Saturday, March 12 (MY BIRTHDAY!!!!) @ 9pm EST to link your layout at Lasting Memories.  So get started on those entries!  We can't WAIT to see your style!!!

P.S.  I ALMOST forgot!  Be sure to come back and visit my blog on Saturday, March 12.  I'll be giving away some BLOG CANDY for my birthday!!!!!!
