Jingle Bells

It's been a LOOOONG time since I entered a creative challenge of ANY kind, but I decided to go ahead and use the sketch at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and enter their August Sketch Challenge.  Here's their August sketch:

Here's my take on the sketch:

The bells are wood pieces I found in my Christmas stash.  Two of the bells look a little dark, but I used Stampin' Up's Shaded Spruce Classic Stamp Pad to color them green, and I used Ranger's Wendy Vecchi Designer Series Archival Ink in Red Geranium on the other one.  The papers are scraps from the Echo Park Here Comes Santa Claus 6x6 Paper Pad and the Teresa Collins Santa's List 6x6 Designer Pad, and I used Recollections foam adhesive circles to pop up the sentiment.

I hope this will give me the challenge-entering bug again, because I really enjoy it when I have time!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!  Happy scrapping!

Magazine Mondays--Week 168

I made this layout for the January 24-Hour Challenge in the Scrappin' 'n' Chattin' Yahoo group, then I realized that it would also work for the Magazine Mondays--Week 168 challenge at PaperCrafter's Corner!  Here's the inspiration piece from PaperCrafter's Corner:

My inspiration was from the title on the inspiration piece--"Travel."

I LOVE to travel!!!  I'd always wanted to visit London, and I got the opportunity in June of 2005 when I escorted a group of students to six European countries.  The photos on this layout are of St. James's Palace and one of the guards on duty.

~Cardstock from stash
~Queen & Co. rhinestones in Sunflower Yellow
~Ribbon & twine from stash
~Stampin' Up 1 1/4" circle punch

I have two different projects to share with you today.  The first is a two-page layout I did a few years ago:

My husband and I spent almost a month in San Antonio, Texas back in April of 2008 while we were going through an IVF cycle.  While we were there, we (obviously!) had a lot of time to sightsee; one of those trips was to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, just north of San Antonio.  At this ranch, you're able to drive your own vehicle through the ranch, all the while seeing many different species of animals and being able to drop food out your window for them.  As you can see, the zebra thought he needed to come in the window to get his!  LOL!

I picked up the "Cute Critters" sentiment set from an online sale at My Craft Spot.  When I ran across this "Happy Lion" from KennyK in my digital stamps, I knew they would be perfect together!  I made this simple card, because I wanted the image and sentiment to be the focus.

Up next is VERONICA.  Here's our lineup in case you get lost:

Ashley (YOU ARE HERE!)
Veronica (GO HERE NEXT!)

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy the rest of the hop!

World Travellers

Welcome back for LOAD2!  Today's prompt dealt with transportation, specifically planes.  I chose to use a picture of the student group I took to Europe in 2005.  This was the last group photo taken of us before we left Europe, as we wanted a group photo with our tour guide, so this was taken at the airport in Munich, Germany.

I used the sketch from the February Sketch Challenge in the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin'.

I had such a great time on this trip (Well, except for the trip to the emergency room in Paris.)!  It was wonderful to be able to travel with this wonderful group of young women and give them the opportunity to experience other countries and cultures they may never be able to see again.

Christmas Lodge

Happy Monday, everyone!  I mentioned last week in one of my posts that I was hoping to be entering more challenges, so that's what I'm here to do!  I know it's still early for Christmas, but it's never too early to make Christmas cards!

The layered papers are from the SN@P! Color Vibe collection.  I used is the Christmas Lodge stamp set from Stampin' Up, which is one of my favorites.  After using my Sizzix Framelit set and stamping the image with StazOn Jet Black ink, I added some Star Dust Stickles to the image to simulate snow on the ground and the house.  A simple piece of Christmas ribbon added from my stash, and it's finished!

Challenges Entered:
Scrappin' 'n' Chattin' 52 Week Card Challenge
Scrappin' 'n' Chattin' June Monthly Card Challenge--Long Card
Robyn's Fetish Challenge #218--Stripes or Dots
Art by Miran Challenge #9--Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp--Anything Goes

I hope everyone has a great week!  Happy scrapping, everyone!
