Papaw's Pumpkin

I hope you've had a great Saturday!  I finally had time over the past week or so to make some layouts in my craft room, so I thought I would share one with you tonight.  I found this sketch at Let's Get Sketchy:

I've had some "older" photos on my scrap desk for quite a while and decided I would use one to go along with this sketch.

The sketch didn't have a designated place for journaling, so I decided to do my journaling around the edges of the patterned paper pieces.

Besties

As I was working on my layout for Week 37 in Scrappin' 'n' Chattin's 52 Week Layout Challenge, I realized there are only FIFTEEN WEEKS LEFT in this year.  OMG!!!  Where did this year go?!?  I was looking for a sketch and came across this one at Scrapping Everyday Miracles:

Here's my final creations:

This is my bestie, Betty, and me at the Army and Navy Academy graduation in 2012.  We taught English there together for just over three years but didn't really get close until the last semester and then after I moved away.  Sure wish we'd realized the value of each other's friendship before I moved!

There are so many elements on here I want to showcase, so I took a TON of close-ups!

Linnie Blooms Butterfly Congratulations

Happy Friday!  I always look forward to Fridays, because I know I'll get to spend more time with my family on the weekend AND I get to sleep late on Saturday!  WOOHOO!!!

Today I have a butterfly congratulations card for you:

Using the butterfly stencil from Linnie Blooms, I grabbed my Pebbles Inc. Chalking Set for my colors.  I used the darkest blue I had, then I added a little black around the edges and finished the top butterfly off with some black rhinestones from my stash.  On the bottom, I (obviously!) used the lighter pink for the majority of the butterfly, darker pink for the edges, then light pink rhinestones for the center.

The ribbon came from my stash.  First, I adhered a single piece of ribbon around the front of the card base.  Then using my bow maker from 3 Girl Jam, I made a small bow and affixed it to the top of the ribbon with a ZOTS clear adhesive dot.  The sentiment is from the We R Memory Keepers banner set.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  I'd love it if you also checked out the Linnie Blooms blog.  Happy scrappin', everyone!

Fireworks!

My layout for this week is all about fireworks!  As I thought throughout the week about what I wanted to create for my Week 2 layout for the 52 Week Challenge, I came across an e-mail from Soul Scrappers about a new Around the World challenge.  One of the inspiration photos in the ATW challenge for this month is of fireworks in the Sydney, Australia harbor.  I knew I had the PERFECT photos!

All three papers on this layout are from the We R Memory Keepers Yankee Doodle line, and they're my last ones!!!  I've absolutely loved this line, and the layouts I've created with it are some of my favorites.

This is my Week 2 layout for the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin's 52 Week Challenge, and it also qualifies for the "One Word" January Challenge in the same group.  It's being entered at Soul Scrappers (Around the World challenge), Red Carpet Studio (Anything Goes Layout Challenge), and I followed Sketch #98 from Sketches In Thyme and am entering the layout over there as well.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by!  Happy scrapping!

It's almost fall!!!

Is anyone else as ready for the fall season to get here as I am?!?  I KNOW everyone in the South is!  This year, I was REALLY glad to be living in sunny Southern California for the summer, since the South had that HORRID heat wave!  I AM looking forward to getting back to the South, though.  I've been away WAY too long, and I need the slower pace of life back.

Have you seen Bo Bunny's new Forever Fall line?  I absolutely LOOOOOVE the colors!!!!  I hadn't seen it until my friend Suzanne (Check out her blog at Scrap with Suzy!) put it on her scrapbook Wish List in our Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin'.  My LSS, Ever After Scrapbooks, recently got this in stock, so I stopped by and picked up the 6x6 pad and a couple of 12x12 sheets to go along with it.  I picked one of the first sheets in the pad to create this card:
The base of the card was green cardstock from my stash, which I folded to make a 6x6 card, then I adhered one of the 6x6 sheets from the Bo Bunny Forever Fall pack to the front.  I stamped the flower stem on the right using Close To My Heart's Garden Green ink, and the stem is from CTMH's From Me to You stamp set (got both of these from my CTMH consultant, Heather!), both of which came in CTMH's From Me to You card kit.  The flowers and brad were from my stash, and I added Tim Holtz Distress Stickles in Scattered Straw to the yellow flower for a little bling.  The sentiment along the flower stem is from the We R Memory Keepers Banner stamp set, and the brown ribbon across the top is one I picked up at my LSS.  I finished off the card by distressing the edges with Color Box Cat's Eye ink in Chestnut Roan.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Thanks for visiting!  Happy scrapping!
