Sketchy Thursdays June Guest Design Team challenge

Here's my take on the Sketchy Thursdays June Guest Design Team challenge. It also qualified for the ledger challenge in the Scrappin' 'n Chattin' Yahoo group for May. Thanks for looking!

Design Dollies color challenge

As I was getting things ready to go to crop night at my LSS on Friday night, I was looking at a couple of different blogs to see what challenges were available. This week's color challenge on the Design Dollies site was for black, white, and yellow. I knew I had the PERFECT thing for that layout! I wanted to do the trifecta challenge on their site, but the picture and note I used for the layout didn't fit with the sketch challenge. Maybe I'll work on that later. AT ANY RATE! I'm really proud of the way the layout turned out. Chance is one of my students who has become near and dear to my heart in just a short time. Hope you like what I've created!

New layouts

Well, the scrapping mojo is still around! I finished four layouts this month already, with at least another six or seven still in the planning stages. I'm really enjoying spending time being creative again, and I have to thank my husband. He is the most wonderful man in the world!

This first layout was done for a five-photo challenge for the Scrappin' 'n Chattin' group on Yahoo that I'm a moderator in. My dad was an MP in the U.S. Army in the early 60s, and he and my mom lived in Munich, Germany for almost two years. I always enjoy looking at my dad's Army photos and hearing stories about the trips they took while they lived in Germany.

This second layout I completed for the two-color challenge for the Yahoo group. I used the sketch from Design Dollies, so I'm entering it in their contest this week. Wish me luck!

The last layout is one I did for the collection challenge for the Yahoo group. We had to use at least three items on the layout from the same collection. The pictures are of my sweet baby Joseph in his different sleeping positions. He has so many! I used the Sketchy Thursday sketch for this layout, so I'm entering that contest, too. Wish me luck on this one, too!

Back to scrapping

So, I think I'm finally getting my scrapping groove back. I've been to two Friday night crops in the past month, and I really feel like I'm on a roll. I got six layouts done this past Friday night, and I finished three more last night. WOOHOO!!!!! Once I find my external hard drive (which has disappeared into thin air!), I'll post some of the layouts. Until then, I'm posting only one for now and maybe a few more later this evening. I think I'm going to enter this one in a contest on another blog, since the challenge was for a "really, really long title." I think this qualifies!

Goodreads Book Review

Flowers in the Attic (Dollanganger, #1) Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I hadn't read this book since junior high, and there was some discussion on one of my Yahoo groups about it, so I decided to pick it up at the library and read it again. I'd forgotten how interesting it was! I couldn't put it down!
It had been so long since I read this book that it was just like reading it for the first time all over again. I forgot what happened, especially when the youngest twin got sick and how the children finally decided to escape. I think what pains me even more about this story is that even though it's a work of fiction, I could DEFINITELY see something like this happening in today's society, unfortunately. I highly recommend this book! If you're looking for a quick and easy read in a paperback, this is one. I'll be picking up the rest of the books in the series, because I don't think I ever read them all!

New pictures!

UPDATE!!!

Yes, yes, I can't seem to remember to update this thing on a regular basis! Maybe I should just set a reminder in my phone. That always seems to help! Since the last time I was here, my youngest son, Joseph, made his grand appearance into the world on January 16, my husband made it home safely from Iraq when Joseph was 2 weeks old, and my oldest son Kennedy is about to wrap up his summer visit with us. It's been a crazy summer! Lots going on. Maybe I'll update all the drama with our rent house at a later point in time. I just want to get someone in there to start paying the mortgage!
