Your destinations await you! Bon Voyage!
I thought I would share with you today some of the layouts I made from my husband's deployment to Iraq in 2008. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2012, so this was his last deployment.
For "Duty Calls," I numbered the photos so it would be easier for me to do the journaling, since I wanted the largest picture to be the first one. Photos one and two were taken on my husband's base in Iraq, while the third photo was taken while they were waiting at another stateside base to board their plane.
"Flying the Iraqi Skies" is clean and simple, but I like the photo because it was taken while my husband was aboard a transport plane somewhere over Iraq.
My husband took this photo of an Iraqi sunset from his base, and I thought it needed to be showcased in a layout. You can see some of the vehicles on their base, as well as the compound wall in the background.
My husband was deployed during the Christmas holidays but sent me a small Christmas tree and presents to open while he was away. I wanted to showcase our two different Christmases on different sides of the world, so we could always remember how different our celebrations were.
The photo in "Sandstorm" is BY FAR my favorite photo from his deployment (well, besides the homecoming photos!)! This was taken by a friend of my husband's in the middle of an Iraqi sandstorm, and I just absolutely LOVE the color!!! No edits were made to this photo at all, and I think it's just incredible.
