Through the Purple Haze Here Comes Christmas Day with Penny Black

I can't believe it's less than two weeks until Christmas!  I hope you've all finished your Christmas shopping.  I still have a few things left to buy, and I have a few crafty projects I have to get completed.  For now, though, it's time for the last challenge of the year at Through the Purple Haze!  We're featuring Penny Black stamps, and the prize this week is three sets of Penny Black stamps.

I'm still a few Christmas cards short this year, so I used a Penny Black image to make this CAS Christmas card:

This image is so cute!  I used colored pencils to color the image, and I added six pearls from Creative Imaginations to add a little dimension to the package.  The sentiment is from craft smart and one I picked up at Michael's at some point, and I used Evergreen Dye Ink from Marcella by K to stamp the image and to ink the edges around the sentiment.  I followed the sketch from addicted to stamps and will be entering the challenge there.

Challenges Entered
addicted to stamps--Challenge #71 Sketch
613 Avenue Create--Challenge #50 Anything Goes/Optional Twist:  CAS
CAS on Sunday--Challenge #23 Christmas
Challenges 4 Everybody--Challenge #35 Anything Goes
Scrappin' 'n' Chattin' December Card Challenge--6 pearls
Whimsical Twist--December and Holiday Themed Project

We can't wait to see your Christmas creations!  Be sure to hop over to the Through the Purple Haze blog to get your project linked up, and stay tuned for our blog hop in January!  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

You should have come to my blog from Lisa.  I'm honored to be the Guest Designer today, and I'll be the Guest Designer again on Saturday, when I'll be back with another project.  Here's my project for today:

This is an advent calendar that my friend, Suzanne, sent me as part of a prize package about a year ago.  I'd been hoarding it, I guess waiting for the right time to make it.  Well, the right time finally presented itself!  I went to the CKC Convention in Kansas City, Missouri, back in October and stayed with my friend, Barbara, from the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin'.  We had a GREAT time, and it was a lot of fun to scrap with a friend.

The advent calendar is pretty neat, as it's made up of little boxes, so you can put things inside and open them each day.  The kit came with a topper for the "tree," but I don't really like it, so I'm still trying to decide what I want to use for the tree topper.  I can't WAIT to start decorating for Christmas and find a place to display this.  I think my boys are really going to enjoy it!

Happy Thanksgiving

This is one of my favorite times of the year!  The weather gets colder, leaves start to change colors and fall off the trees, and families plan large get-togethers.  It's a time to remember what we're thankful for and to enjoy good food, family, fellowship, and football (GO COWBOYS!) in the process!

I decided to enter this week's Whimsical Twist grateful challenge, so I followed this sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap:
I pulled out some brown ribbon (I promise the ribbon really is brown!) from my stash and my Bo Bunny FAVE fall papers--Forever Fall--and created this:
I wanted to finish things off, so I added a sentiment to the inside
and an image to the envelope.

This will be going in the mail on Monday to a former student of mine who is a resident of our local Sheriff's Girl's Ranch.  She's had quite a few things happen in her life, so I'm trying to give her some encouragement right now.

The stamps are from the Bountiful Blessings set from There She Goes Clear Stamps, and I used Ranger Archival Ink in coffee.  The leaf charms came from my friend Danni in an RAK (Thanks, Danni!), and they fit perfectly on my card!  I'll also be entering this in the "Thanksgiving" monthly card challenge at the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin'.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to come back on Thanksgiving Day (November 28) and again on Saturday, November 30, as I'm participating in a "12 Days of Christmas" blog hop, and I'll have a different Christmas project (and a giveaway!) to share with you each day.  Happy scrapping, everyone!

Scrapping4fun Challenges #7--Color Combo

So sorry I'm late posting my creation for the new challenge at Scrapping4fun!  The last couple of days have been pretty crazy in my world, and I think time just slipped up on me.  Challenge #7 is a color combo:
You must use at least three of the five colors in the inspiration photo.  I just LOVE these colors!  I think they're PERFECT for a Christmas card!
I followed the current sketch at Mojo Monday and will be entering my card over there, as well as in the "Anything Goes" monthly card challenge for the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin'.
The ribbon and rhinestones were both found in my stash, and the patterned papers are from Bo Bunny.  The line escapes me at the moment, as I'm not sitting at my scrap desk, but I'll update later with specifics.  I also used Stickles around the edges of the Santa picture.

We'll be having a blog hop at Scrapping4fun Challenges in January!  If you're interested, you can find more information on the blog, as well information about a Design Team Call.
You can find more information on the DT Call on our blog as well.  We also have two Guest Designers for this challenge, so be sure to stop by the blog to check out their creations.  If you're interested in being a Guest Designer, be sure to get your project linked up with the challenge!  We can't wait to see what you come up with for our color combo!  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Through the Purple Haze--Pinks or Purples!

Happy Monday, everyone!  Sorry I've been MIA for a few weeks, but things got a little crazy around here both personally and professionally.  I'm back, though, and here's our newest challenge at Through the Purple Haze!

Our sponsor this week is Sassy Studio Designs, and they are providing four images for the winner of this week's challenge.  AWESOME!!!  Sassy Studio was gracious enough to allow the DT to choose an image to work with, so I chose Wonder Woman.
I followed the current sketch at Artful Delight

and will be entering my card over there, as well as in the "Anything Goes" category for the monthly card challenge in the Yahoo group Scrappin' 'n' Chattin'.  I made this card in my hotel room over the weekend while at a family reunion for my husband's family.  I usually don't take projects with me when I travel, so it was quite interesting doing it without things in their normal spots!

Our challenge this week is to use pinks or purples in your creation, which I don't think I realized when I chose this image!  At any rate, I found a patterned paper with some pinks in it that I think ended up working perfectly.  I colored the image with colored pencils, then inked the edges of the cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Faded Jeans.  The red twine was in my stash, and I used pop dots to adhere Wonder Woman.  The sentiment (from Fiskars) was stamped using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Barn Door.

I hope to see quite a few of you enter your creations this week!  Be sure to hop over to the Through the Purple Haze challenge blog to get linked up, but remember to please link to your specific post and not your entire blog.  TTPH is also having a DT Call, with a deadline of December 31 to get in your application.  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Scrapping4fun Challenges--Challenge Four

SO SORRY this is a late post!!!  Things got SUPER crazy for me last week as I got ready to go to the CK Convention in Hot Springs with my friend Barbara, and I just didn't get time to post the new challenge.  Challenge Four at Scrapping4fun Challenges is an "off the page" challenge--no layouts, no cards.  You can make anything for this challenge EXCEPT a layout or card, and you have to use a minimum of two items from this list on your project:  banner, flowers, brads, eyelets, doilies, feathers, stamp, chipboard, ribbon, washi tape.

My creation for this challenge is a box project from a Close To My Heart workshop about a year ago that I just never had the chance to put together:

I ended up using four items off the list--flowers, ribbon (burlap), chipboard, and stamp.  The deadline for linking up your project on the Scrapping4fun Challenges blog is Thursday, 24 October, at 23:59 European time.  If you're not sure about the time difference, there's a clock with European time on the challenge blog.  The prize for this challenge is a pack of Christmas scrapbook paper from Crafti.  Good luck, and happy scrapping!
