LiaStampz Challenge #10--For Your Valentine

I hope everyone's having a great weekend!  It's time for a new challenge at LiaStampz, just in time for Valentine's Day!  Our theme for challenge #10 is "For Your Valentine."
The image we were given to work with is "Love Letter" from LiaStampz.  I just LOVE this little guy!  The sentiment and heart stamps are from The {Stamps} of Life.  I followed this sketch from Sketches by Carly for my card and will be entering it there:

I am sad to say that this will be my last challenge as part of the LiaStampz Design Team.  It's been a great ride!  Thanks to Lia and Laura for giving me a spot on their first Design Team, and thanks to the rest of the Design Team for allowing me the pleasure of working with you.  It's been great!  I hope to continue to play along with some of the challenges after I'm gone.

So--what can you create for YOUR Valentine???  We can't WAIT to see!  Be sure to get your project linked up at the LiaStampz blog.  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Drool, Baby!

I created this layout last night of my precious son Joseph (at nine months old) for Scrappin' 'n' Chattin's January 24 Hour Challenge:
The paper collection is Sassafras Lass' Vintage Yummy, and this is the sketch I had to follow:
As you can probably tell, I rotated the sketch, because I thought it fit better with the picture.  Thanks to my dear friend April (whose blog is here!) for choosing the paper collection and sketch for me!

I'm also entering this at Prairie Fairy Fridays for Challenge #71 (Anything But a Card), Mami Doodles Challenge #42 (For a Loved One), and Ditzy-Craftymess Challenge #1 (Anything Goes).  Be sure to check back tomorrow for my DT creation for the new challenge at LiaStampz!

Pattie's Creations Design Challenge #36--Embossing

Happy Friday, everyone!  It's time for a new challenge at Pattie's Creations!  For our newest challenge, we'd like to see what you can do with embossing.  I used the Margarita image from Pattie's Creations for my card:

Once I got finished with it, I thought the card turned out SUPER cute!!  I colored the image with Crayola colored pencils; the border pieces on each side of the image are ones I received in a border punch swap several months ago.  I followed this sketch from Card Positioning Systems and will be entering my card there:
It also qualifies for the monthly card challenge in the Scrappin' 'n' Chattin' Yahoo group.

Be sure to get your embossing project linked up at the Pattie's Creations Design Challenge blog!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!  My LSS is having a customer garage sale this weekend.  I'm hoping to pick up a few new things as well as sell a lot of stuff!  Happy scrapping!

CDAC Progressive Challenge 10

Here's the card I created for the CDAC Progressive Challenge 10:
I followed this sketch:
which I found at the A Gem of A Challenge blog, so I'll be entering this card over there as well as at Birthday Sundaes.  I hope everyone is having a great week!  Be sure to stop back by on Friday when I'll have my project for the new challenge at Pattie's Creations!

Sketches in Thyme Thursday Takes #65

As I was looking around for a sketch to use for my 52 Week Challenge layout for Scrappin' 'n' Chattin', I came across this sketch at Sketches in Thyme and thought it would be perfect for what I wanted to do:
I rotated the sketch on its side and came up with this:
The layout is a gift for our vet, Dr. Landen, at Mission Animal Hospital in Oceanside, California.  She saved the life of our precious St. Bernard, Sweet Pea, and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts.  We thought a framed layout with a picture of her and Sweet Pea would be a nice gift.

I'll be back next week (maybe before then!) with new projects for both Pattie's Creations AND LiaStampz!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!  Happy scrapping!

LiaStampz Challenge #9--Sketch

For those of you who have a three-day weekend for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday, I hope you're enjoying it!  My youngest son turns three tomorrow (Where does the time go?!?), so we celebrated with a small get-together at our house yesterday.  Oh, what a great time it was!

Now, it's on to the first challenge of 2012 at LiaStampz!  We're starting off the year with a sketch challenge:
The Design Team was given the image "Leah Catch a Star" and a set of sentiments to work with for this challenge.  I couldn't ever get the sentiment to do what I wanted it to, so instead, I used some glitter letter stickers from my stash to make my sentiment:
I LOVE the way all these colors came together!  I colored the image with Crayola colored pencils, and I inked the edges and background of my card with some purple ink I found in my stash.

We'd LOVE to see what you do with this sketch!  You can flip it, rotate it, or use it as-is, but we must be able to still recognize the sketch.  You've got until January 28 to get your card uploaded to the LiaStampz blog for a chance to win!  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Based on a Book Blog Hop!

What a great way to start the weekend--with a BLOG HOP!!!
I'm the first stop in the hop, so I hope you enjoy what I've got to show you!  We were asked to create a project based on a book.  I created this layout a few months ago, but I thought it was PERFECT for this hop project!
The layout highlights my visits to London, England, and Munich, Germany, and I used background paper from Neuschwanstein Castle.  I really like the way it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by for the blog hop!  Your next stop is Shawnee.  Be sure you hop all the way through, as the final stop is our wonderful hostess Tanya.  Once you visit all the blogs, leaving comments along the way, you need to comment on her blog with the name of a book you'd like to have.  She'll draw one random winner to receive that book!

Oh, yeah!  I almost forgot--BLOG CANDY!!!!  I'd love it if you'd become a follower, but you must DEFINITELY leave me a comment!  I'll draw one random winner who will receive the stamp set of her choice from The Stamps of Life.  If you haven't seen these stamps yet, you really SHOULD check them out!  My husband got me a membership into their Stamp of the Month club for Christmas, and I LOOOOOVE it!!!!  Enjoy the rest of the blog hop!  Now head over to Shawnee!

CDAC Progressive Challenge 9

Here's my latest card for the CDAC Progressive Challenge:
The image is from Pattie G's, and the sentiment is from The Stamps of Life.  I also used this sketch from Sketches by Carly and will be entering my card over there:
Happy scrapping!

G*L*A*M*O*R*OUS

Happy Friday, everyone!  I have a three-day weekend due to the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday on Monday, so I'm HOPING to get some good scrapping time in.  The Yahoo group I'm a moderator in, Scrappin' 'n' Chattin', is having a 52 Week Challenge again in 2012, so here's the layout I came up with for Week 2:
It also qualifies for the "List" challenge in SnC's January layout challenges.  I followed this sketch from the Sketch Inspiration site and will be entering my layout in their Sketch Challenge:
As you can probably tell, I rotated the sketch, because I felt it fit better with my pictures that way.  Since it's also about yours truly, I'm headed over to Lasting Memories to enter it there as well.

Be sure to check back here tomorrow for the Based on a Book Blog Hop!  Happy scrapping!

Pattie's Creations Design Challenge #35--Fancy Folds

It's time for the first challenge of 2012 at Pattie's Creations!  For Challenge #35, we want to see what fancy folds you can come up with.  I used Pattie's image "New Year's Champagne Glasses" to make a fun New Year's card.

I used a template I bought from Party Hearty at the Scrapbook Expo a few years ago to make this card, and I embossed the purple cardstock with my D'vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder.  I colored my image with Crayola colored pencils before cutting everything apart so I could layer it how I wanted.  The image is from Pattie's Creations also.

There are SO many different folding options available to card makers now, that we can't WAIT to see what you come up with!  Be sure to get your card linked up at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge by January 26 at 1 p.m. Central time.  Good luck, and happy scrapping!

Sympathy Card

Have I mentioned how much I LOOOOOVE the weekend?!?  It's just so refreshing to be able to spend time with my family.  I was lucky enough today to have quality time with my youngest son AND be able to get some crafty time in as well!
Today I made this sympathy card:
I'm fortunate enough that I'm going to be able to enter this in quite a few challenges!  The first is The Paper Variety, run by my AWESOME friends Abby and Suzanne!  The challenge at TPV this week is to make a paper project with black & white and a touch of color.

Next, I'm going to enter this at the One Stop Craft Challenge.  This week, their challenge is Bingo!
For my bingo row, I chose the top row across:  distressing, lace/ribbon, and flowers.  I distressed the edges of the front of my card with my distressing tool and then shaded it with my purple ink pad.

My last entry for this card will be at Card Patterns.  Here's their sketch for this week:
I LOVE their sketch this week!  It was so easy to adapt my card to, and it went perfectly with my sympathy card.

Be sure to check back on the 15th, as I'll be posting my newest DT card for the first LiaStampz challenge of 2012!  Happy scrapping!

Paper Cutz Challenge #120--It's a Brand New Year!

Happy Friday, everyone!  It's time for the first challenge of 2012 at the Paper Cutz Challenge!  Our theme is "It's a Brand New Year!"
I followed this sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and will be entering my card over there:
As you can see, I rotated the sketch, mainly because it worked better with my image and the size card I was using.  All of the papers and ribbon came from my stash, and the image ("Harry") and sentiment are both from LiaStampz.

What project are YOU creating for the new year?  We'd LOVE to see it!  Be sure to get your project linked up at the Paper Cutz Challenge!  Happy scrapping!

Word for 2012

Happy New Year, everyone!!!  I can't believe it's been so long since I made a blog post!  My apologies, as I didn't realize I'd been out of touch for so long.  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that you're ready to start 2012 with a bang!

Before I get to my word for 2012, I have a couple of announcements to make.  As you may remember, my last project for NettieG's was in December.  I want to thank everyone at NettieG's Digital Gems for allowing me to be a part of their design team.  It was wonderful working with them!  Also, my time as a Design Team member at My Partner in Crafting Crime is over as well.  The owner of the challenge blog decided to close the challenge blog, but I want to thank her for giving me the chance to work with her images and get some wonderful inspiration from the rest of the DT there.  Thank you!

I had a little trouble deciding on a word for 2012.  I just couldn't come up with something, and the ones I DID come up with just didn't fit right.  As I started explaining it to my husband, he suggested the perfect word--TRANSITION.  This is PERFECT!  I have lots of TRANSITIONS coming this year as my husband retires from the Marine Corps.  We will TRANSITION out of military life and back to the civilian world.  We will TRANSITION back to Arkansas and closer to family.  I will TRANSITION to a new job.  I will TRANSITION my health.  I will TRANSITION back to making more layouts.  I could go on and on!

I think my first layout of the new year will be about TRANSITION.  The Yahoo group I'm a moderator of, Scrappin' 'n' Chattin', is having a 52 Week Challenge again this year, and I am determined to complete it this year!  My only fault in not completing LAST year's challenge was that I THOUGHT I'd uploaded my layout but hadn't. :-(  I was NOT a happy camper!!!  The premise of the challenge is simple--make one layout a week for the entire year.

Be sure to come back later this week to check out my DT project for the Paper Cutz Challenge and an announcement about a BIG giveaway!  Happy New Year, everyone!!!
